Swimmers at Robert Moses State Park were told to leave the water Saturday morning as a 5-foot sand tiger shark was captured and released at Field 3.
News 12 is told that swimmers were instructed to get out of the water at Fields 2, 3 and 4 to ensure that the shark would swim out to sea. All swimmers have since been allowed to return to the water.
Video sent in by a viewer to News 12 Saturday appeared to show another shark captured at the Captree State Park pier in Bay Shore.
As News 12 has reported, state park police are using specialized drones to look for sharks along the South Shore. It comes in the wake of two attacks and a spate of sightings over the last few days.
There are extra lifeguards on the shore this weekend, and Nassau and Suffolk police are also patrolling the coasts with helicopters to watch for shark activity.
