Bed-Stuy shoppers have a new place to pick up local produce, as the Greene Hill Food Co-Op opens a new location this weekend.
The Greene Hill on Fulton Street opened its door Saturday, just a couple blocks from their old location, which was forced to close earlier this year.
In honor of their grand opening, the store is offering open shopping, which means you do not have to be a co-op member to score savings on local produce.
Members say the opening is a victory for those who invested in the future of the co-op, sharing in the management and operation, all while picking up deals on 60 varieties of local produce.
“Anytime you see someone shopping here chances are they're also an owner of the store and also someone who works at shift in the store which really helps build a sense of community,” says Christopher Gollmar, Board of Directors.
Open shopping is available all weekend long and trial memberships are now available.
