NYC Emergency Management says cooling centers citywide will remain open through Wednesday as high temperatures continue to hover around 90 degrees.
News 12 on Tuesday spotted residents taking advantage of the spray showers, basketball courts and pool at Fox Playground in Canarsie. Down the block, the Glenwood Senior Center was open as a cooling center.
Health officials stress that people should limit any strenuous activity during the day, when the sun is at its strongest.
NYC Parks has extended most pool hours for those looking for relief from the hot temperatures.
