Dozens of people are displaced from their homes after a retaining wall collapsed in Bergen County.
The collapsed wall completely smashed the backyards of about three homes. It also destroyed furniture, a children’s pool and a bird house with baby birds in it.
There is new video from above the collapse shared with News 12 by a viewer.
Borough officials say it all started on Fairview Avenue Saturday morning, where heavy rain and a damaged drain pipe caused water to back up and flood the area. The flood water then ended up traveling to the Fairview Gardens apartment complex.
The retaining wall behind the apartment complex collapsed into the backyard of three homes.
With more rain expected throughout the weekend, residents are wondering not only if their property is safe but if it will still be standing.
