Bridgeport police say a dog that was shot by an intruder has died.

Officials say a man was running through the backyard of a home on Remington Street Friday when he allegedly shot a pit bull that lived there.

They say the animal was struck in the head and stomach and later died.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact police.
