BROOKLYN -

The West Indian American Day Carnival Association held a kickoff event Thursday night at the Brooklyn Children's Museum.

The event served as the official launch party for the Caribbean Carnival Festival season.

It showcased much of what's to come for the carnival, including food, exotic costumes and music.

Organizers say giving people a preview of what's in store will leave them wanting more, ideally leading to a large turnout.

The events proper begin in two weeks.
