Members of the Brick Township High School Drama Club came out to help senior citizens affected by flooding in their community earlier this week.
The students were out in Greenbriar 1, a senior citizen community that was devastated by heavy rain Monday.
The Drama Club’s members says that they were inspired to help after players on the football team showed up in Greenbriar Wednesday. They organized their volunteer work in less than a day.
"Some of my friends went through it with [Superstorm] Sandy. And when I heard it was this neighborhood, I thought of my grandmother and didn't want her to be alone without people to help her,” says junior Ariana Ortiz.
Many of the residents in Greenbriar lost most of their belongings and do not have flood insurance.
