CYPRESS HILLS -

A man attacked and attempted to rape a woman at gunpoint inside the parking lot of a Brooklyn Wendy's, police say.

The incident happened on August 6, inside of the Wendy's parking lot at 3283 Atlantic Ave. around 5 a.m.

Police say the woman thought she was getting inside of a cab when the driver suddenly pulled into the fast-food restaurant and began to attack her after pulling a gun on the 39-year-old.

The man punched the woman in the face and body before attempting to sexually assault her, police say.

However, the woman was able to fight the man off.

Police say the man drove the woman to an unknown location before forcing her out of the car.

She was later taken to Jamaica Hospital where she was treated and released.

Police have released surveillance video of the suspect.

Anyone who recognize the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
