Woman sexually assaulted, pushed down stairs in subway station

A woman was sexually assaulted and pushed down a flight of stairs inside the subway in Brooklyn, police say.

The incident happened Monday inside of the Bergan Street subway station at Smith and Warren streets around 11:20 p.m.

Police say the woman was exiting the station when she was grabbed from behind, groped in her breasts and genitals and pushed down a flight of stairs.

Police say the suspect grabbed the woman's purse before pushing her.

The woman sustained minor injuries.
