Back to School: Staying safe at school

Safety is on the minds of many parents as children across the five boroughs prepare for the start of school next week.
School safety agents are going to be stationed at schools, and uniformed officers will greet students as well, according to NYPD Chief of Community Affairs Nilda Hofmann.
"I want parents to know that in addition to New York City being the safest big city in America, that our schools are safe," Hofmann says.
Hofmann says that the NYPD is constantly working to prevent school shootings. School safety agents are highly trained in active shooter drills.
And the NYPD is working to train parents on what to watch for to prevent cyberbullying. They are urging parents to monitor children's phones, and are offering instructions on different features that are available on phone models to locate and monitor children.
