Mayor announces approval of Brooklyn-Queens streetcar project

BROOKLYN -

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the approval of the Brooklyn-Queens streetcar project.

The BQX streetcar will serve neighborhoods along the Brooklyn-Queens corridor. The mayor's office says the project could provide new transportation alternatives to 400,000 residents and generate $30 billion in revenue.

The mayor's office says environmental review of the project will begin this winter.
