GREENPOINT -

A student from Automotive High School in Greenpoint was stabbed on the first day back from summer break, police say.

A bloody fight left the victim with a stab wound to the head from a metal hair pick. Police say the victim is expected to be OK.

The suspect, 17-year-old student Trevell Brown, faces an assault charge.

"We're providing the school with additional supports and will ensure appropriate follow-up action is taken," a Department of Education spokesperson said in a statement.
