Police: Man attempted to rape woman in Brooklyn apartment

A man attempted to rape a woman after following her inside of her Brooklyn apartment building, police say.

The incident happened on Sept. 3 inside an apartment building near Berry Street and South 10th Street around 7:45 a.m.

Police say the suspect followed the 42-year-old woman into her apartment building before attacking and attempting to sexually assault her.

The woman was able to fight the man off before he ran out of the building. The man fled down South 10th Street and made a left on Broadway, according to police. 

Police have released surveillance video of the suspect.
