#N12BK: Urgent Care

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Patient admission to urgent care facilities across America have skyrocketed, according to the Journal of American Medical Association.

The journal reports a 119 percent uptick in patient visits between 2008 and 2015.

Emergency room visits for classified ‘low-severity’ conditions have decreased by 36 percent.

The journal’s report claims people are still getting sick, however, they are receiving more medical care than ever before.

The report says the convenience, low costs and short wait times contribute to the popularity of urgent care facilities.

An average cost of ‘low-severity’ emergency visits in 2015 was $422 out of pocket, the report details.

However, patients who visited urgent care facilities only spent an average of $66.
