A suspect has been charged in the 2011 fatal shooting of a Bronx teen.
Jose Webster, 16, was shot 15 times in Melrose almost seven years ago. His sister remembers the day and has now dedicated her life to gun advocacy.
"It was two people basically addressed him and they started shooting," said Nathalie Arzu. "And according to the autopsy, it was two guns that were used in the scene that caused the 15 shots."
Arzu, the victim's older sister, says one of those two suspects was charged just last week. Authorities say that suspect is a gang member.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says that 31-year-old Nathaniel Fludd is a member of the "MacBallas" gang and was also charged with another murder he allegedly carried out in the same year.
After Webster's murder, Arzu dropped out of college before eventually finding her true calling.
"I didn't have the motivation," Arzu said. "I felt like I needed to do more. It was like I needed to be my brother's voice and that's what I became."
Arzu went back to college and eventually got her master's in public health with an interest in gun violence prevention. She works for multiple organizers in her field where she speaks publicly and shares her story in hopes of impacting others to get involved.
