The fourth annual Essence Street Style Festival brought beauty and beats to Brooklyn this weekend.
The block party was all about celebrating the beautiful black women in the fashion industry during New York Fashion Week.
Organizers say the event creates a place where women can empower each other. From fashion influencers to everyday fashionistas, women have a space to share ideas and get creative.
Local businesswomen say the event also helps promote more African-American entrepreneurs.
The event was hosted by actress and comedian Amanda Seales, and included performances by Teyana Taylor and a community fashion show.
A special honor was made to honor singer Kelis for her contributions to fashion and style.
