Authorities say a Monmouth County woman intentionally set fire to the townhouse where she lives, severely damaging the unit and killing two family pets.
Authorities say Suzanne Demo, 20 allegedly lit a bed on fire in the Marlboro home's master bedroom around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Police also say that she used a box cutter to stab someone in the hands and arms. Authorities have not disclosed what spurred the incident or provided further details about it.
Everyone in the townhouse escaped safely. But a dog and cat were both found dead.
Demo is charged with aggravated arson, obstruction, weapons offenses and two counts each of aggravated assault and animal cruelty.
It wasn't known Monday if Demo has retained an attorney to comment on her behalf.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
