BROOKLYN -

Organizers of a fashion show held Tuesday at Borough Hall say they sought to make more than just a fashion statement.

The Black Fashion Matters show is in its third year and gives black designers in Brooklyn a chance to showcase their work and talent.

Organizers say this event is a platform for the black community hasn't had in the fashion industry.

This year's event featured more than a dozen pieces from two designers. Organizers say they hope it only continues to grow every year.

The show was held during New York Fashion Week.
