A discount store in East Tremont is out of hundreds of dollars after being robbed Friday afternoon.
Police say the man in surveillance footage approached the register of the CX Tremont Discount and 99 Cent Store around noon. He allegedly showed a knife and ordered the employee to open the cash register.
Then, with force, he stole $300 in cash and ran away.
One mother says her family shops at the store frequently and her 12-year-old son often goes there alone.
"No more letting him come out by himself," she said. "Something scary to know that something can happen at daytime--it's scarier than anything."
The suspect is described as a 40-year-old with short dark hair, brown eyes and around 5 feet 10 inches tall.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
