The incident happened Monday inside of the Utica Avenue subway station around 9:22 a.m.

Police say the incident began inside of the subway station when a man swung a cane at a 23-year-old after an argument.

The man with the cane chased the victim outside of the station where police say the suspect struck him several times with the cane and used a knife to slash his arm.

The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital in serious but stable condition, and is expected to be OK.

Police have released a surveillance image of the suspect.
