Music and dancing filled the streets in Crown Heights Saturday for the 23rd Panamanian Day Parade.
The festival celebrates the separation of Panama from Colombia, while spreading Panamanian culture in Brooklyn and around the city.
Organizers say the first Panamanian parade was held in 1996 with a single drum.
Now the event has marching bands, dignitaries from Panama and traditional music.
Organizers say this event is put on mainly by a nonprofit that fundraises all year to make this possible.
