Construction on the Islanders’ new arena will begin in the spring.

Islanders co-owner Jon Ledecky tells Newsday he expects construction at Belmont to start in May.

The arena should open in October of 2021.

Some Floral Park residents complain the project around the arena is too big.

Ledecky says the Islanders are taking community concerns very seriously.
