Business Briefs: Amazon, Apple, 3D photosPosted: Updated:
Amazon could soon be paying a lot more to ship items to your doorstep. The U.S. Postal Service wants to raise the fee they charge Amazon, from 9 to 12 percent. It's unclear how much Amazon is paying now, but major retailers all negotiate deals based on volume. It comes as the post office also proposes a price bump on stamps and priority mail, according to Cheddar.
Does Apple finally have a solution to end all those telemarketing calls? Apple Insider reports that Apple has filed a patent for technology that can automatically detect spam calls on iPhones. Incoming calls would be cross-checked through a database of "call signatures" to determine whether or not they are legit. It's unclear if, or when, Apple will roll out the new technology.
A new feature is bringing 3D photos to your news feed. Facebook says the new feature used the dual-camera setup that now is standard on most smartphones. The 3D photos will also be compatible with Facebook's artificial intelligence technology - Oculus. The feature will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
