There may be a new troubling distraction that could make it more dangerous on the roads.
Driving education website DriversEd.com surveyed 1,400 hundred drivers nationwide. They say eight percent of people admitted to watching YouTube videos while driving and four percent said they had watched Netflix while driving.
Nassau Highway Patrol officers say this growing problem has led to a stepped-up enforcement effort in the department.
The survey also showed roughly 18 percent of drivers admitted to checking their social media apps and 11 percent of drivers said they have read text messages while behind the wheel.
