Members of the New York State Nurses Association rallied outside Montefiore Medical Center Tuesday against overcrowding inside the hospital.
Nurses say patients are being left in hallways on stretchers for days at a time, and they are often neglected.
NYSNA members and local leaders rallied outside the hospital and demanded Montefiore Medical Center treat patients with more respect by giving them more privacy while receiving care.
Some nurses say they fear this flu season will create a health hazard for patients and staff inside of the hospital.
Many at the rally today say the hospital is robbing patients of decent health care, by treating patients without privacy and raises risk for infection.
NYSNA President  Judy Sheridan-Gonzalez says the hospital should be a home of healing and not a place where patients are humiliated.
In a statement, a Montefiore spokesperson says, "To increase capacity during peak periods we utilize all available space and all patients are assigned a nurse, full care team, and receive comprehensive medical care."
