Throgs Neck students were among thousands of kids across New York who got the chance to be real-life scientists Tuesday.
Dozens got hands-on experience Tuesday by studying water quality, measuring the tide and studying different types of fish. It was all part of the 16th annual "Day in the Life of the Hudson and Harbor."
Students went to the East River and took a 20-foot net to go fishing, hoping to capture different species in order to study biodiversity in the New York Harbor.
The event is hosted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
An estimated 5,000 students conducted the various experiments, from the Bronx all the way upstate to Troy.
