Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor spoke to students on Long Island today.
The New York City-born justice was at Stony Brook University for a "fireside"-style chat. She spoke to the Class of 2022 about the importance of remembering people who helped them reach their goals.
"In everything you do, there are people who help you sometimes with you not truly appreciating them, but they're there and it is their being there that makes you who you are, " said Sotomayor.
Sotomayor also talked about her memoir, which details her journey from the Bronx to becoming the first Hispanic member of the Supreme Court. She said she wrote it to remember how she got to where she is today and who helped support her along the way.
