The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that parts of the state could face above average temperatures during the winter months.

Its winter outlook model for this year predicts that northern parts of Connecticut will face temperatures 40 to 50 percent above average. It says that southern Connecticut will have temperatures 33 to 40 percent above average.  

A model from the National Weather Service shows equal chances of seeing above or below rainfall or snowfall throughout the winter. 

News 12 meteorologist Justin Godynick says the NOAA model becomes more accurate as the winter season gets closer.
