A man was brutally attacked in his car in Highbridge Sunday night.
Police say the call came in about an assault just before 10 p.m.
They say a group of men assaulted a 20-year-old man from the Bronx as he sat in his sedan at the intersection of 166th Street and Anderson Avenue.
Police say the suspects used a baseball bat and metal pipes to smash into the man's car and attack him. The attack caused severe trauma to the man's head and neck and a puncture wound to his chest, authorities say.
He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. He is in critical but stable condition.
It is unclear how many people were involved in the attack.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
