Wendy Williams hosted a summit meeting on synthetic marijuana and other drugs Wednesday night at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem.
Williams is the founder of the nonprofit Hunter Foundation.
The meeting, called "Battling K2 and the Opioid Crisis in America," was moderated by CNN anchor Don Lemon and featured medical experts and elected officials taking part in a panel discussion.
K2, a synthetic form of marijuana, has hit both the Bronx and Brooklyn hard. Just a year after Williams started her organization, her son was given K2, intensifying her fight against addiction.
The Hunter Foundation is currently working with a university doing clinical research and studying the effects of K2.
Facebook, one of the event's sponsors, has banded together with other tech companies in a new campaign to combat drug addiction.
The city's Department of Health says the number of K2-related emergency room visits are on the decline.
