SHEEPSHEAD BAY -

Police say they have arrested a man who allegedly assaulted an off-duty officer in Brooklyn.

They say Saveljev allegedly approached the victim while he was walking his dog near Williams Court and East 11th street. He then allegedly struck the officer in the head and face with an unknown object in a seemingly random attack.

The victim suffered a fractured cheek bone and several cuts to the head and face.

The officer has since been treated and released from the hospital.
