A man says he's coping with a major mold problem in his Flatbush apartment, but says his complaints to building management haven’t gotten him anywhere.

Dwayne Brabham says he's been living in the Nostrand Avenue apartment for 2 1/2 years, but he's worried he won't be able to return. Black mold, he says, is everywhere.

"It's my whole living room, my whole kitchen," he says. "It's the whole house."

Brabham's sister, Suberina Brabham, traveled up from South Carolina to try and help her brother. She says the conditions are worse than what she saw as a former correction officer for New York City.

"Prison facilities weren't this bad. You know, this is worse than being incarcerated," she says. "The mold is in the walls, and they're doing nothing to relieve the problem. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy."

Dwayne Brabham says he's begged building management for help, but didn't get far.

"What they did was send a guy to come clean the wall," he says. "You're not killing the problem, you're just slowing the problem down."

He's unsure what he'll do next, because he says he won't be able to afford a new place. He and his sister say the lack of response feels personal.

"You're low-income, it's a point of making someone feel like they're invisible and everybody needs to be acknowledged," says Suberina Brabham.

News 12 reached out to the landlord for comment but has not yet received a response.
