The man accused of killing four family members before setting their Colts Neck home on fire faced a judge this morning.
Paul Caneiro is charged with four counts of murder.

He maintains he didn't do it, and entered a plea of not guilty.
Caneiro and his attorneys did not contest the discovery evidence against him presented by prosecutors, and waived the right to a detention hearing.
As prosecutors read him the charges one by one, Caneiro's expression did not change even as he was accused of killing his brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew 10 days ago.

Caneiro is also charged with several weapons offenses including a gun used, according to prosecutors, to shoot and kill his brother and shoot the other victims. The other murder weapon was knife.
Prosecutors say he then set fire to his brother's Colts Neck mansion to trying to cover up the crime before returning to his own home in Ocean Township and setting it on fire as well.
According to prosecutors, the motive was financial issues stemming from their jointly-owned businesses.
Caneiro remains in jail.  A pre-indictment conference is scheduled for Jan. 30.
