Police are searching for the man accused of raping a woman in Betsy Head Park early Saturday morning.
Investigators say the man approached a 20-year-old woman and tried to engage her in conversation around 2:30 a.m. on Herzl Street and Dumont Avenue.
They say he then grabbed her by the arm and dragged her into the park where he allegedly raped her and stole her bag.
The man is described as Hispanic with long hair, possibly in a ponytail, and facial hair.
He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, blue and white jeans and black sneakers.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
The sexual assault comes just two weeks after residents in Prospect Park South were shaken by similar news, when a woman was raped right outside Prospect Park. Some residents living in both Prospect Park South and in Brownsville say they are hoping for more safety measure inside and around the areas.
News 12 Brooklyn has also contacted the Department of Parks and Recreation for a statement regarding possible safety measures that they may be taking in response to recent events but has not yet heard back.
