Mike Rizzo Mike Rizzo

Meteorologist "Meteor Mike" Rizzo is a NY State Associated Press Award-winning meteorologist for the category of Best Weathercast. He began working for News 12 Networks in 2014. Mike was born and raised in New York City, and he really gets the weather here. He graduated from Kean University of New Jersey with a B.S. in Meteorology and a M.A. in Communication. He has a true passion for the weather with his favorite type being thunderstorms. Believe it or not, Mike took a storm chasing research excursion while in college to better understand the challenges in thunderstorm and tornado forecasts.

Aside from his love of weather, Mike is also an university professor who strongly values education and information. He combines this attitude with the hyperlocal forecast by creatively explaining the weather. It's not all about the numbers with Mike - he aims to intrigue. He even visits local schools engaging students with fun weather lessons (experiments included!) You can definitely count on him to deliver a thorough and interesting forecast.

Outside of the newsroom, Mike loves art, technology, learning, helping others, and is often caught aboard a cruise ship. If you ever see him out and about, be sure to say "hi". Otherwise you can catch him on News 12 mornings pleasantly and enthusiastically giving your hyperlocal forecast. When the winds start blowing, and clouds move in, Meteor Mike will be right by your side!
