Bridgeport police arrest 4 in drive-by shooting of 12-year-old

An 18-year-old Bridgeport high school student and three juveniles were arrested in connection to a fatal drive-by shooting of a 12-year-old boy on Dec. 18, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.

An 18-year-old Bridgeport high school student and three juveniles were arrested in connection to a fatal drive-by shooting of a 12-year-old boy on Dec. 18, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.

Tajay Chambers and his three alleged accomplices, who are 16, 14 and 12 years old, are currently in police custody.

News 12 Connecticut is told that the individuals were driving a stolen vehicle when an ongoing dispute between the men in the vehicle and other men on Willow Street turned violent.

Chambers is accused of firing a handgun twice and shooting 12-year-old Clinton Howell once in the chest.

Police say they had a lot of physical evidence and surveillance video in locating the suspects. They have also spoken to a number of witnesses.

Howell was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital. Police say he would have turned 13 years old next month.

“I can’t get my son back, but I do feel some relief that they caught the killers,” says Howell’s mother, Cynthia Dawkins.

Howell's parents say that they want to thank those who provided the information that was crucial to making the arrests.

Howell's funeral is planned for Jan. 11.
