Some changes on Interstate 95 are in the works, hoping to alleviate congestion along the roadway where the Brucker Expressway meets the New England Thruway.
The Bronx Times reports that Assemblyman Michael Benedetto has been working with New York state Department of Transportation on a solution.
Major changes include an exit to Co-op City from the Hutchinson River Parkway, adding a new travel lane off of Exit 8B and rerouting traffic traveling east on Pelham Parkway to I-95 South.
Construction for the nearly $30 million plan is expected to start in the first half of 2020, with a projected completion in 2022.
Some Bronx residents say they would rather see work on the MTA rather than the roads.
Benedetto insists that the project will save a lot of money by getting commuters where they need to be faster.
