Deep freeze stays put as arctic air settles in over city

Dangerously cold temperatures kicked off the week across the borough, with gusty winds are worsening the bitter blast.

Wind chills went far below zero through much of the day.  A wind advisory was issued for the city through Monday.

News 12 meteorologists say frigid temperatures will last into tonight, with lows around 12 degrees. Wind gusts could reach up to 40 mph at times. 

Tuesday will be mostly sunny and not as cold, with highs near 30 degrees.
