Three women looking to give back to the community have opened up a paralegal business.

Elaine Castillo and Swannie Bautista first met when they worked together as paralegals at a law firm. The pair decided to take their combined 25 years of experience and knowledge and venture out on their own.

Along with Bautista's sister Rachel, the women started Paralegals for the Community this past fall.

The business offers a wide array of legal services in both English and Spanish that include immigration, divorce and bankruptcy. Although they aren't attorneys they can assist people with research and educate people on their rights.

The women also say they want to empower other young women who are on their own professional journeys. They have teamed up with Hostos Community College to offer a scholarship and internship.
