Voices were raised in song to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. at the  Brooklyn Academy of Music.
The 33rd annual Brooklyn tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. kicked off at the Howard Gilman Opera House in Downtown Brooklyn.
The lively commemoration of the civil rights icon's life featured some famous faces this year, including Tarana Burke, the founder of the #MeToo movement. as well as prominent elected officials.
There were other free events around the BAM campus to celebrate Dr. King's legacy.
