Boogie Down Bites: Mama Puebla

It's your mother's homemade cooking Mexico-style.
Mama Puebla in Throgs Neck is partly named after the south west city of Pueblo, Mexico and is known for its authentic cuisine.

“They get a taste of Mexico,” says owner Leonardo Gonzalez.

Recipes have been created with care in the kitchen and passed from generation to generation by the Gonzalez family.

“Here it's authentic homemade base; our recipes come from my grandmother and my mother,” says Gonzalez.

The restaurant opened back in 2014, and prides itself on its traditional dishes made fresh to order.

They feature classic Puebla cuisine, seafood, steak and other Mexican favorites.

Gonzalez says it’s the “Mama Puebla fish taco” that keeps the restaurant busy and keeps customers coming back.

Mama Puebla is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner for those craving a little taste of Mexico.
