Some well-known actors are teaming up this week to fight back against domestic violence.
Sol Miranda, who stars in the hit Netflix show “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” has been lighting up the screen for nearly two decades on shows like “Law and Order” and “Blue Bloods.” The Puerto-Rican born actress, who now calls Peekskill home, is about to take on a new role that’s a little more intimate.
“I’m doing the angry vagina,” she says.
Miranda is one of 32 actors taking part in a one-night performance of the “Vagina Monologues” at the Tarrytown Music Hall on Valentine’s Day Eve.  The show will benefit two local organizations working to end domestic violence.
National studies show three women a day are murdered by a current or former male partner in America.
News 12 has spent the last few months working on an upcoming investigation that highlights the problem on a local level.  The data shows that there were 6,424 victims of domestic violence in the Hudson Valley in 2017 alone, with one-third of those cases in Orange County.
The money raised at the event will go to My Sister’s Place and Hopes Door, which is set to launch a new legal center that will offer victims a wide range of services.
Tara Rosenblum's special investigation on domestic violence will be airing the end of this month.
