SUNSET PARK -

Hundreds gathered in Brooklyn on Sunday to celebrate the Lunar New Year with balloons, fireworks and the traditional dragon dance.

The year of the pig officially started Feb. 5.  In addition to red, the colors pink and orange are said to bring good fortune and wellness this year. One dragon dancer at the celebration said the dance, too, is meant to bring in wealth and prosperity.

According to the 2010 census, New York has the largest Asian population in the United States.
