FORT GREENE -

The Brooklyn Academy of Music hosted the second Black Comix Expo on Sunday.

BAM teamed up with the Black Comics Collective to bring comic book artists and writers together to celebrate comics of color. Many of the comic writers chosen for the event have written stories of superheroes of color who live in urban environments like Brooklyn, according to the collective.

The event comes during Black History Month, and many who attended say they had been waiting for an expo like this to come to their area. Organizers saw a line out the door this year as families waited to see comic books and posters featuring male and female superheroes of color.
