Homeland Security: 90 shipments of MDMA seized so far this year

Officials with the Department of Homeland Security joined U.S. Custom and Border Protection officials to discuss recent seizures of the drug MDMA.
The drug, sometimes referred to as ecstasy or molly, is a psychoactive drug primarily used as a recreational drug.
Officials say that agents have had about 90 seizures of shipments of MDMA so far in 2019. They say that this is more than all of the MDMA seizures that happened last year.
Most of the drugs are coming from Europe, hidden in the mail, officials say.
“MDMA is not a harmless drug. It appeals to teens and college students. It’s a nightclub-type of recreational drug,” said acting Port Director Stephen Maloney.
Officials say the drug is often laced with other drugs such as fentanyl, making it more dangerous.
