Taste of Singapore: NYBG shines light on beauty of ‘City in a Garden’
The New York Botanical Garden is giving visitors a taste of Singapore with its 17th annual orchid show.
Stunning colors fill the garden’s conservatory with orchids at every turn to pay tribute to the “City in a Garden.”
The show highlights the beautiful plants that naturally decorate Singapore, and aims to replicate the country's architectural structures, including supertrees.
The trees are three-story metal structures with lights over them - the garden has made them small enough to fit inside the conservatory.
The theme of this year's orchid show is plant love - it's all about finding the connections between plants, people and the environment.
Those who plan to come out for the orchid evening events can get a true Singapore vibe with cocktails and lit installations.
A big surprise unveiled at the garden is that one of the orchids has been named after comedian and actress Awkwafina. She starred in the move "Crazy Rich Asians,” which filmed in Singapore.
The show starts Feb. 23.
