Pro-life protesters crowded the sidewalks on Old Country Road in Garden City Saturday to make their voices heard.

The demonstration comes after Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the Reproductive Health Act into law. The legislation allows for abortion after 24 weeks if a woman's life is in jeopardy or the fetus is not viable.

Protesters say those defending a woman's right to choose have gone too far. Many say they also want to overturn Roe v. Wade.

JoAnn Smith, the CEO of Planned Parenthood of Nassau County, says the Reproductive Health Act is a way to ensure women have access to abortion care if federal abortion law is struck down by conservative judges.

“We need to remain a beacon of reproductive rights for the women who live here and a safe haven for those who don't," she says.

Protesters say the Reproductive Health Act is wrong.

"Life is important. Life is precious. That's what we have to protect," said one protester.
