A firefighter captain was hurt battling a large fire in Newark that displaced at least 10 families Monday evening.

Firefighter injured battling fire that displaced 10 families
A firefighter captain was hurt battling a large fire in Newark that displaced at least 10 families Monday evening.
The fire was first reported around 7 p.m. inside a home located at 149 Mount Prospect Ave. That fire quickly spread to the adjacent homes.
The American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the 23 people and tree dogs displaced by the fire. Officials say that the number of displaced may increase as additional people arrive home.
Officials say that the fire captain suffered neck injuries and was taken to University Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Officials say that it took crews about two hours to put out the flames.
The case of the fire was not immediately made clear.
