Drivers advised to be cautious on roads following rain storms, heavy winds

Despite a brief pause in storms, the rain came back for round two on Monday.

Officials advise drivers and pedestrians to keep an eye out for puddles in the roads and along sidewalks.

A wind advisory is also in effect through the evening, with wind gusts hitting over 40 mph in some parts of the city.

Residents are advised to give themselves extra time for the commute home and to take their time on the roads.

The Department of Building is reminding all builders, contractors, crane ops and property owners to secure anything that runs the risk of being blown over.

The DOB says it will issue random inspections and will take immediate action against anyone putting others at risk.
