Netflix says it has surpassed 148 million subscribers. The platform added 9.6 million subscribers in the last three months, more than the 8.6 million it expected. Netflix also announced it would start testing weekly top 10 lists of its most popular content, to make choosing titles even easier. Each genre will get its own list. The test will roll out in the UK, and expand if it’s successful. This surge in subscribers comes after Netflix hiked its prices, and Disney and Apple unveiled rival streaming services.
Martha Stewart's brand has sold for $175 million. This is much less than the $350 million it was sold for in 2015. The homemaking brand has been bought by Marquee Brands, and includes Stewart's line of home furnishings, kitchenware, and other branded products. Martha Stewart stepped out of a leadership role in 2003 after she was indicted for securities fraud, but has since re-joined the board of directors.
Starbucks' new rewards program has arrived. The latest version of the app lets customers rack up points, which they can redeem for more free items, like sandwiches or coffee to brew at home. The new system lets you redeem cheaper items sooner, using less stars.
